History

Mention the name (VDJ) Ta-Shi in Japan and you will instantly be bombarded with a list of his accolades. A decade ago, Ta-Shi made an impact on the Japan scene by winning (not one or two but all) three major DJ competition sponsored by Vestax, ITF and DMC Japan respectively (he is currently in the panel of judges for DMC Japan).

In 1998, Ta-Shi performed in a concert of James Brown (often regarded as the godfather of Funk) and received a standing ovation from J.B (James Brown not Justin Bieber). In 2003, Ta-shi was invited by Dr.Dre and Snoop Dog to be the official tour DJ for their Japan tour. Constantly looking for new challenges, Ta-Shi got involved with production and went on to work along side the best selling singer of JP – R&B artist “ Misia”, which he subsequently became her tour DJ too. Not forgetting his roots, Ta-Shi went on to work with DJ Krush on his epic album entitled “Ryuu” and this opened doors for his co-published collaboration with world-renowned turntablist DJ QBERT.

With a career spanning over two decades and having the opportunity to work along side funk, r &b, hip hop alumni like JB, Dre, Snoop, DJ Shortcut, NAS, 2 LIVE CREW; Ta-Shi wanted to bring something different into the fray, he went on to develop a Video DJ set – drawing inspiration from his ridiculous library of vinyl (he has a collection of over 20,000 vinyl) the VDJ set has proven to be a success! Over the course of the past 6 years, he has gotten dance floors across Asia jumping.
